About: Join us during our March 2020 glow with her-people experience by Make This Universe.
Each week, you can expect thoughtfully curated ice breakers, facilitated group conversations and other moments to connect meaningfully, in addition to three glow with her-people workshops.
Make This Universe believes in making products with flexible formulas that work for every. body.
Week 1: Natural Deodorant DIY
In this 90 minute crash course, you'll get basic training in natural formulation principles while learning the science behind you sweat. You'll be equipped with our flexible formulation worksheet, allowing you to confidently create and customize your very own natural deodorant. Whether you're looking for extra absorption, a long lasting scent or minimum residue, we've got something for every body.
Week 2: Facial Oil DIY
In our Facial Oil Workshop, you'll be learning how your current skincare routine may be working for- or against- the natural processes of your skin! With an approach that focuses on skin first, and skincare second- you'll leave this class feeling more empowered than ever to take back control of your skincare routine, by asking brands the right questions, focusing on ingredient efficacy and understanding the basic principles of your skincare. After a quick intro into the healing properties of botanical lipids, we'll be heading off on a DIY journey that will equip you with a multi-use oil to be used as a lightweight moisturizer or cleanser- while connecting as a class to understand each ingredient using a blend of scientific sources and intuition.
Week 3: Natural Perfume DIY
Perfume's are a traditionally problematic cosmetic product. With a high price tag- and the banning of problematic phthalates- natural perfumes can be a great alternative to your store-bought commercial fragrance. In this workshop, you'll learn about the history of perfumery, before being introduced to the concepts of accords. While you get familiar with your raw materials, we'll also be talking about the meaning behind fragrance-making as it relates to our sensory memories. Using our large range of essential oils- you’ll have the opportunity to blend your own signature fragrance in an alcohol base. As a class, we'll use the exploratory process to discuss the feelings and meanings you capture in your final scent. Please note this class is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Week 4: her-pages book club discussion
We will discuss the her-pages read over a moderated discussion led by the community builder, often over a potluck dinner.

Please note that all workshop supplies and materials are included, with the exception of the her-pages book club pick for Week 4.
